The 2026 Nissan Sentra® is a five-passenger, front-wheel-drive sedan offered in S, SV, and SR grades. Its engineering package combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an Xtronic transmission, a unibody chassis, and four-wheel independent suspension. Standard driver-assistance technologies include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, and several additional monitoring systems. The cabin provides smartphone integration, multiple display configurations, and seating materials that vary by grade and equipment package. Available amenities include heated front seats, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control, a power moonroof, premium audio, and an Intelligent Around View® Monitor. The following sections cover the 2026 Nissan Sentra® powertrain, chassis, exterior specifications, interior equipment, connectivity, safety systems, and grade-specific features.

Engine Performance and Chassis Engineering

The 2026 Nissan Sentra® uses a mechanical layout built around front-wheel drive and independent suspension at all four wheels. Every grade receives the same engine displacement, rated output, transmission type, steering ratio, and basic suspension configuration. The rear braking hardware differs between the S grade and the SV and SR grades. Wheel and tire dimensions also vary by grade, creating distinct chassis and equipment combinations across the lineup. Standard electronic control systems coordinate braking, traction, steering, and suspension-related functions.

Four-Cylinder Engine and Xtronic Transmission

A transversely mounted MR20DD engine powers every 2026 Nissan Sentra®. This 2.0-liter, 1,997 cc inline four-cylinder engine uses a dual overhead camshaft design, direct fuel injection, and four valves per cylinder. Nissan constructs the engine block and cylinder head from cast aluminum. The engine produces 149 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 146 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, with a maximum engine speed of 6,600 rpm. Its bore measures 84.0 mm, its stroke measures 90.1 mm, and its compression ratio is 10.6:1.

The valvetrain incorporates a Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control System. Four engine mounts manage the powertrain, including liquid-filled mounts at the right side and rear, a solid mount at the left side, and a vacuum-controlled mount with a membrane and integrated upper and lower torque rod. The engine runs on regular unleaded fuel and includes an Idle Stop/Start system as standard equipment. Its emissions hardware consists of three catalytic converters, a single-outlet muffler, and one tailpipe. The engine carries a LEV3-ULEV 125 emissions certification.

Every grade uses an Xtronic transmission in a front-engine, front-wheel-drive configuration. The transmission has a ratio range of 2.805 to 0.357, a reverse ratio of 1.797, and a final-drive ratio of 5.034. Hill Start Assist comes standard across the lineup. The electrical system includes electronic direct ignition, a 12-volt starter, a 150-amp alternator, and a 63 Ah battery. These specifications remain consistent across the S, SV, and SR grades.

Suspension, Steering, and Braking Systems

The front suspension uses independent struts with coil springs and a 22.2 mm stabilizer bar. A multi-link independent layout supports the rear, where a 26.5 mm stabilizer bar comes standard. Twin-tube shock absorbers equip every grade. Intelligent Trace Control also comes standard across the range. Active Ride Control and Intelligent Ride Control provide additional chassis-management functions in every 2026 Nissan Sentra®.

A dual-pinion, vehicle-speed-sensitive electric power steering system controls directional response. The steering system uses a 15.3:1 ratio, requires 2.53 turns from lock to lock, and produces a 38.1-foot curb-to-curb turning diameter. Every grade includes a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping D-shaped steering wheel with cruise control, audio, and Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone switches. The SV and SR add distance-control switches, while heated steering-wheel availability depends on the selected grade and package. The S and SV use a three-spoke urethane steering wheel as standard, while the SR receives a TailorFit™ leatherette-wrapped steering wheel.

All grades use 11.0-inch vented front disc brakes with a thickness of 0.9 inch. The S grade pairs those front discs with 9.0-inch rear drum brakes. The SV and SR models use 10.2-inch vented rear discs measuring 0.31 inch thick. Standard braking controls include power assistance, Electronic Brake force Distribution, Brake Assist, and a four-wheel, four-channel, four-sensor Anti-lock Braking System. A foot-operated parking brake completes the braking configuration.

Exterior Design, Dimensions, and Wheel Equipment

The 2026 Nissan Sentra® uses unibody construction made primarily from corrosion-resistant and high-strength steel. Its exterior dimensions remain largely consistent across all three grades, although selected measurements differ slightly on the SR. Lighting, grille treatments, mirror equipment, wheels, tires, and trim details distinguish the individual versions. An available Midnight Edition provides the SR with another exterior configuration featuring coordinated black components. Functional exterior equipment includes automatic headlight control, tire-pressure monitoring, and variable intermittent windshield wipers.

Body Measurements and Aerodynamic Specifications
